HIV/AIDS
Our operations in South Africa and Mozambique are located in areas where the incidence of HIV/AIDS is among the highest in the world. Managing the impact of the disease is a key sustainability challenge for our Company as we have a responsibility to care for our employees, protect the viability of our operations and support the wellbeing and development of our host communities.
For many years, we have adopted a proactive approach to managing the disease within our workplaces. This has included conducting education programs, ensuring employees and their dependants have access to medical care, and reducing hostel-type employee accommodation, which is known to be a risk factor for the disease.
We also support community healthcare organisations and facilities that assist in managing the disease and its consequences.
